Stick it to me – Ten Reasons to Try Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a natural therapy that is a form of Chinese medication. It involves inserting hair-thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the body’s healing abilities. Acupuncture can be used to heal and overcome a variety of physical and mental health related problems.

Pain Relief

Acupuncture can aid in relieving pain. This is, in part, due to the fact that acupuncture increases the body’s level of endorphins, which are often referred to as “feel good” chemicals. Acupuncture also helps normalize nerve impulses because acupuncture points and the central nervous system are connected.

The Immune System

Evidence has indicated that acupuncture strengthens the body’s immune system and natural resistance. It has been shown that there is an increase in white blood cells, as well as in the level of Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Globulins after an acupuncture treatment. Alpha and Beta Globulins are thought to help white bloods cells better fight infection, while Gamma Globulins assist in the production of immune antibodies.

Drug Recovery

Acupuncture assists in the recovery of drug and alcohol addiction. It does this by helping to reduce withdrawal symptoms, decreasing cravings, relieving tension, and helping people relax. In fact, acupuncture is so successful in drug treatment recovery that many clinics throughout the United States use acupuncture as an integral component of their programs.

Musculoskeletal Disorders

Acupuncture has the ability to release muscle tension, as well as tension in the connective tissues. This allows the lymphatic, nervous, and circulatory systems to function more efficiently. For these reasons, acupuncture is helpful in both prevention and treating musculoskeletal disorders. In fact, sports figures such as Carl Lewis, Charles Barkley, and Jim McMahon are known to use acupuncture in order to improve training and performance, as well as to speed up healing and to manage pain.

Allergies

Allergies are caused by the immune system reacting to substances that are harmless to most people. Environmental factors, such as pollen, dust and chemicals are common causes of allergies. Similar, foods such as milk, wheat, and selfish can cause allergic reactions. Allergies can cause watery eyes, stuffy nose and sneezing. They can also cause more serious problems, such as joint pain, diabetes, glaucoma, kidney problems, depression, heart palpitations and learning disorders. Through acupuncture, the body can be detoxified and the immune system can be strengthened, thereby causing the body to cease having allergic reactions.

Stress

Stress can lead to more serious health problems, such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, and respiratory problems. According to Chinese medicine, stress causes these problems when the liver energy is out of balance. Therefore, acupuncture helps but this energy back into balance, which relaxes the muscles and brings about peace of mind.

Diseases and Disorder

Acupuncture can help with more than 50 different internal medical problems. Some diseases that have been effectively treated with acupuncture include: bronchitis, asthma, diarrhea, ulcers, and hypertension. The exact acupuncture treatment varies depending on the medical condition and may be used in conjunction with other natural therapies, such as herbs and massage.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is often brought on my depression, stress, or an infection. No matter the direct cause, patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have immune system deficiencies and most have a weakness in their internal organs. Acupuncture can be used to improve the body’s immunity and, therefore, eliminate Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Menopause

Typical symptoms associated with menopause include night sweats, hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, and heart palpitations. In Chinese medicine, these symptoms occur when the Yin is out of balance. Yet other symptoms of menopause can include weight gain, hypertension, indigestion, and water retention, these are caused by an imbalance in the Yang. If these are left untreated, it results in a Qi deficiency, which causes feelings of fatigue, a dry vagina, decreases sex drive, lower back pain, cold extremities, and incontinence. Acupuncture therapy has been shown to help get the Yin and the Yang back into balance, thereby reducing the symptoms of menopause.

PMS and Menstruation

Many women experience both emotional and physical pain and discomfort before and after menstruation. Emotional difficulties can include sadness, anger outbursts, depression, and irritability. Physical pains can include pain in the lower back and the lower abdomen. Acupuncture can help bring the body back into balance and eliminate or lesson physical and social pain associated with menstruation.

Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that is quickly gaining acceptance in Western culture for its proven ability to treat emotional and physical problems without the side effects associated with other forms of medication.

Understanding Temporary or Short-Term Health Insurance

There are a variety of reasons that you may find yourself in the market for temporary or short-term health insurance. You may have graduated from college and can no longer be covered on your parent’s policy, but don’t have a job yet that will provide coverage. You may have lost or left your job and now need health insurance coverage until you find a new one. Or you may have started a new job and have to wait a period of several months before you are covered under their plan. Whatever the reason, going without health insurance coverage, even for a few months, can be a costly gamble. If you find yourself in this predicament, temporary health insurance coverage may just be the key to solving your dilemma.

What Is Temporary Health Insurance Coverage?

It’s basically just what the name suggests. Temporary health insurance coverage offers you the opportunity to continue to be covered under a health plan for a limited amount of time, usually one to six months, although there are plans out there that will cover longer periods of time. If you find you will need to be covered for more time than you originally thought, some temporary policies can be extended past their expiration date, but you may want to consider getting a more traditional health insurance plan instead.

What Do These Plans Cover?

Temporary health insurance plans cover most of the same types of medical occurrences that permanent policies do, but there are some very important differences.

For one, these plans are usually strictly indemnity plans. Preventative treatments like check-ups, as well as dental and optical coverage are generally not covered. Pre-existing medical conditions and work-related injuries or illnesses are also not covered.

Your temporary health insurance policy will generally cover any emergency medical care you may need, prescription drugs, hospital and intensive care needs, lab and x-ray needs, ambulance care, and even some in-home medical care.

How Do I Get It?

Your first step should be to find an agent that specializes in temporary health insurance. Decide in advance how many days or months you need the coverage and when you want it to start. Pay attention to the ‘exclusion’ clauses in the policy and ask questions about any concerns you may have. Review the application and make sure all your personal information is correct before you sign anything. Also, remember to get a copy of all paperwork for your files.

The cost of the temporary health insurance plan will depend on the type of coverage you pick. To keep the cost down, you can choose to have a higher deductible with a 50/50 co-insurance option rather than the more common 80/20 ratios. There are some extras that you may want to consider, though. With the high cost of prescription medicines, you may be better off buying the coverage rather than leaving it off.

The important thing is to read through the temporary health insurance policy carefully and make sure you are being offered the coverage you think you are paying for.

Acute Edema and Back Pain

Back pain is caused from a variety of problems including ?Acute Pulmonary Edema.? Edema builds up abnormal and excessive fluids that cause serious actions to the tissue cells. What happens is similar to over watering plants. The plant will swell and gradually wither away.

Edema in acute stages is defined as heart failure to one side, yet the problem extends to cause pain in the back. What occurs is when the heart is interrupted; it channels the fluids to tubes, vessels, ducts, and passageways that extend to the lungs.

Causes of edema:
Edema may arise from inhaling smoke, MI, CHF, Myocarditis, excessive I.V. intakes of fluid, Valvular disease, overdose of drugs, such as morphine, barbiturates, and heroin. Acute edema arises from ARDS (Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and Atherosclerosis.

The lack of heart pumping can cause stress to the chest, which when the chest is scarred it affects the spines structure and mobility. Overarching the back is where back pain starts, since the chest is restricted from scarring and/or edema.

Experts will often use X-rays, ABG tests, ECG, and monitor Homodynamic to discover edema. Of course, edema can lead to major problems, such as Hypernatremia, Digoxin Toxicity, Hypokalemia, Excessive Fluid, and Pulmonary Blockage of the arteries, (Embolism), which starts blood clotting and affects blood circulation. Hypokalemia will decrease potassium intake that is required by blood. What happens is the decrease of potassium to the blood causes excessive excretion of fluids that lead to the muscles, which cause weakness. The back pain is not necessary the issue at this stage, since the heart is the starting point, which could lead to cardiac arrest.

When acute edema is present, experts will often restrict fluid intake, while administering I.V. fluids to substitute. Oxygen and meds are prescribed. Often the doctor will request that the patient remain consistent in a high position, such as ?Fowler?s.?

Symptoms:
Edema may present fatigue, coughing, JVD, Hypophysis, murmurs, Orthopnea, one-side heart failure (Right often), low output of cardiac, exerted Dyspnea, and so on. The condition can cause various other symptoms to emerge as well.

Experts will request that the patient limit fluid intake, and join in oxygen therapy. Since edema causes excessive fluid buildup, isometric exercises, and bed, rest is required. Isometric workouts is the process of pushing muscles next to a sturdy surface, whereas the muscles are put under tension, yet restricted from contractions. The exercises are recommended in a variety of medical treatments when back pain is involved.

Edema also affects the joints, cartilages, muscles etc, which can cause tenderness, ulcers of the legs, changes of stasis, and so forth. Edema affects the veins found in the neck as well, which is one of the leading starts of back pain. To avoid traveling into the heart cavity and discussing heart conditions, I will sum up edema and the causes of back pain.

As I mentioned earlier, back pain starts with edema since when the heart is not pumping blood it affects the connective tissues, ligaments, tendons, muscles, cells, joints, etc. As you can see, when the skeleton elements are targeted pain will occur from swelling and inflammation. The cause of back pain then starts with excessive fluid buildup emerging from acute edema and/or peripheral edema conditions.

To learn more about edema and back pain consider tendons, ligaments, disks, joints, connective tissues, neurological disorders, and so on.

Back pain has affected millions of people, yet the leading causes emerge from nerve and musculoskeletal disorders. Still, many diseases and disorders can cause back pain, including edema. In fact, when doctors discover musculoskeletal and nerve disorders, they often link one of the potential causes to edema.

Products and Completed Coverage: What it pays for

For businesses, insuring themselves against potential lawsuits can be vital to their success and survival. In particular, small companies are increasingly at risk to be nailed by major lawsuits or claims from former customers that may leave them bankrupt or struggling financially. It is best for businesses to look into all areas of insurance to make sure that they are covered against any possible problems that may arise. Having to deal with an unexpected insurance claim can be damaging to a company, particularly if the business does not have insurance. There are a number of types of insurance policies that can be useful for businesses to research and invest in. One of these types of insurance is Products and Completed Coverage. Products and Completed Coverage covers businesses for claims that come from products or work that a business has sold, distributed and/or completed.

One common use for Products and Completed Coverage is for products sold, manufactured, distributed or leased by a company. If customers are injured as a result of using the company’s product and the customer files a claim, Products and Completed Coverage ensures that the company will be covered by their insurance policy to pay for any problems caused by the product. This type of insurance can help settle claims with unsatisfied customers and avoid major lawsuits that can put companies out of business. Although all companies strive to produce the perfect product that will satisfy all customers, there is always a chance that something could possibly go wrong along the way. For example, if a bicycle company manufactured one bike that was accidentally put together incorrectly and then the bike was sold and used by a customer who fell off of it because of its faulty manufacturing, the customer could file a claim against the bicycle company. Products and Completed Coverage would keep the bicycle company from having to pay the customer out of their own pocket. Products and Completed Coverage policies are there in the event that an unexpected problem arises.

The Products and Completed coverage also covers businesses that perform a service for a customer and something goes wrong with the result of the service. If the product your business sells is a service performed by your employees then anything that goes wrong with the service can be covered under a Products and Completed Coverage policy. For example, companies who offer carpentry services to customers have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders to be sure that everything they manufacture is built correctly. If a carpentry service is performed on the home of a customer and then a week later the customer is injured because the service was not completed properly, your company will be at fault. The customer will then have an option of filing a claim for their injury and if you do not have insurance your company will be liable to pay the customer’s claim or go to court. Since, in this case, it is likely the customer would win a lawsuit; most businesses would choose to settle the claim outside of court and simply reimburse the customer for their medical expenses resulting from the injury. If the business does not have insurance they will be left footing the bill from their own finances. With other types of insurance, events such as this may not be covered. However, with Products and Completed Coverage injuries such as this will be fully covered and taken care of through your insurance policy.

It is very important for businesses to insure themselves against any possible lawsuits and claims that may arise. Products and Completed Coverage is a great way for businesses to settle claims and avoid lawsuits. Products and Completed Coverage are a particularly smart choice for small, independent companies that could be put out of business by a single lawsuit from an unsatisfied customer. Problems from your own products and services can be rare and unexpected but it is always best to be prepared for the unexpected. Products and Completed Coverage allows companies to insure themselves against any unforeseen problems that may arise. Without insurance these unforeseen problems can put a business at high risk for bankruptcy or severe financial troubles. Products and Completed Coverage will keep businesses safe and covered in the event of any difficulties.

Joints and Connective Tissues Causing Back Pain

the joints connect with tissues that work with the muscles and bones. The joints connect with tissues to conjunction bones and enforce these two bones to move. In short, joints are articulates that rest between ?two bone? planes and provides us stability, movement, and controls this range of movement. (ROM)

The joints have liners known as synovium. These liners are the inner joint surfaces that secrete fluids, such as synovial and antibodies. Antibodies and synovial reduce the friction of these joints whilst working in conjunction with the cartilages.

Picture, imaging reaching up to one side of your body, while the other side of your body bends. At this time, pleats start to unfold on the opposing side of the body, which suppresses the fluids known as synovial and antibodies.

Abnormalities: Facet joints cause this reaction to occur and at what time these joints are swiftly acting, or moving it can cause abnormalities in joint alignment. The result, back pain:

How to the pain is reduced:
Chiropractors is the recommendation for patients who have suffered this type of injury. As well, massage and physical therapy can help minimize the pain.

Synovial and antibodies promote healthy cartilages, which is the smoother exteriors of the articulate bones. The bones help to absorb shock, especially to the joints. Sometimes atrophies are caused from swift, unsuspected movement that limits ROM (Range of Motion) which is caused by an absence of the weight bearing joints response. It affects the bursa. The bursa is a sac filled with fluids that serve as padding and works to lessen friction about the joints and between parts of the body that rub against the other.

The results of such interruptions lead to pain, numbness, fevers, stiffness of joints, fatigue, inflammation, swelling, limited mobility, and so on. The ultimate results lead to abnormal VS (Vital Signs), edema, nodules, skin teardown, deformity of the skeletal, limited range of motion (ROM), poor posture, muscle spasms, weak and rigid muscles, abnormal temperature and skin tone, and so on.

Amorphous connective tissues promote stability and movement as well. Beneath the top layers and at the underneath of the skin are connective tissues. The tissues spread throughout the body. The tissues at the top act as mediums and help us to think and act. As we age these tissues start to string out and its elasticity lessens.

What happens?
When the tissues string and the elasticity weakens disorders set in, including scarred tissue, ?restrictive scarring,? edema, tumors, fatty tissues develop, and so on. Edema is at what time excessive fluids build and causes an abnormal buildup that stretches between the tissue cells. Edema causes swelling, inflammation, and pain.

What happens when people endure injuries, sometimes they fail to listen to the doctors? instruction, and i.e. they will walk on a swollen limb, such as a leg, which adds enormous stress to the spine? It can cause injury. The injury often affects the ?sacroiliac joint.?

In addition to injuries, some people are born with diseases that affect the connective tissues. Recently, new meds came available, which is used to treat connective tissue disorders. Alternative treatment includes physical therapy, which is what doctors relied on to treat such problems until new remedies came available.

Regardless of the condition however, back pain is outlined in the terms neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Musculoskeletal conditions often target joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc, causing pain. Once the pain starts, it will consistently ache and aggravate the back.

Inappropriate lifting of heavy weights can cause musculoskeletal conditions. To learn more read about musculoskeletal disorders.

Release Stress with Reiki – What is it and does it work?

Stress is an evil six letter word that can be so harmful to your health. Work can be stressful, traffic jams can be stressful, raising a family can be stressful, and sticking to a strict budget can be stressful. Stress causes headaches, muscle aches, irritability, insomnia and a broad range of other problems that you can live without. Nobody wants it, but we do get it at some point in our lives. Now, we must learn how to either cope with stress or how to get rid of it. You can release your stress with Reiki (pronounced Ray Key). The combination of these two Japanese words means Universal Life Energy.

Reiki is an age old system of holistic healing that is used to alleviate pain and elevate relaxation and overall well-being to those stressed out individuals. Reiki refers to the life force or energy that is channeled through the palms a recipient during contact with the Reiki practitioner. Reiki is designed to help achieve balance and assist in healing through a natural healing system. The Reiki practitioner will act as a conduit by which the Universal Life Energy can be channeled to a recipient, by using either a hands on or hands off technique. Reiki practitioners may also opt to treat themselves. The Reiki energy flows through the palms at various rates of speed and depending on a number of factors, such as the degree of the recipient’s ailment, to the recipient’s preparedness to accept a change, etc.

Reiki is not a faith or other religious healing, although it may sound like it is, and the effectiveness of Reiki is not based on religious doctrine acceptance. It is not required for the recipient to have a belief system in order for Reiki to work. Although Reiki has principles that encourage spiritual empowerment and growth and is very spiritual in nature, it does not conflict with anyone’s beliefs. It doesn’t matter who you are, your gender, religion, intelligence, nationality, or what your financial status is, Reiki is a gift of vitality and energy that is offered to everyone. Reiki does not hurt, but it can give you the sensations of warmness and coolness, or a sensation of tingling, throbbing, numbness, itchiness or drowsiness.

A Reiki Master can perform a ritual attunement where Reiki symbols are used in energetic placement in sequential actions to the recipient’s palms and crown. Each hand placement is given at least five minutes of devotion, to ensure that no body part is neglected and given equal consideration. Reiki is an indefinite supply of energy that will never run out, no matter how much you use it. Even if you are giving a Reiki treatment to a recipient, you are not losing any of your own energy; you are only giving your time and your assistance to aid the recipient. No mental involvement is ever needed with Reiki; the energy flow will automatically go to where it needs to go, without mental engagement. Although, if you choose to become mentally involved, this can open a linear pathway that clears a route to allow Reiki to move more smoothly and effectively to the part of the body that needs it most. The choice is up to you.

The practice of Reiki can greatly control life’s daily stresses and even assist in pain management. Many practitioners highly regard Reiki for its gift of balance and the relaxing effects it has on them, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. For those stressed, frantic, conflicted individuals, Reiki will introduce the Universal Life Energy into the body to relieve those complaints and in turn will help return balance to any mental or emotional turbulence that may contribute to the vexatious psyche. There are also special energy treatments that Reiki Masters and practitioners use to heal long distance. These energizing treatments can be transmitted to people or towards specific environments. Reiki energy treatments can be sent ahead with a fixed intention of making an atmosphere more relaxing and calming, especially for events in people’s lives such as social events, job interviews, family gatherings, etc. Reiki can be a very rewarding experience to all who practice it and can greatly reduce the stresses in our everyday lives.

Learn More About Preventing Neck Wrinkles

It is a fact that there are plenty of different things that anyone can do to try and prevent wrinkles and remove the wrinkles that already exist throughout your skin. There are many types of creams out there that can help those wrinkles on your neck, which will give you that boost of confidence that you have been missing out on, for so long now. There is no need in anyone feeling bad about themselves because of some ugly looking wrinkles that show up on an individuals neck that can make them look much older than what they truly are.

It is so very important to come up with some kind of skin treatment plan in order for something to actually work down the road. There are different types of plans out there, some of them work and some of them unfortunately do not work in the least bit. It is so important to make sure that you research over the internet to find out which types of products are more affordable and the ones that truly do work as well. Even if your face is not terribly wrinkled, if your neck is wrinkled then you will definitely appear much younger than you are and everyone will for sure notice the excellent difference in your appearance, which will absolutely thrill you, to say the least. There are things that you can remember to do that will also help in preventing your neck wrinkles, things such as, holding your head up straight and never letting your head just slump over. Slumping over can really cause you to get neck wrinkles because of your skin folding and staying that way for too long.

Make sure whenever you are out taking a drive in your car that you do remember to wear your sunglasses, otherwise you will be having to deal with more than just neck wrinkles, you will also get those little wrinkles out beside your eyes. Squinting causes wrinkles, so be sure that you remember that. Neck wrinkles can make a woman feel so much older and can make people think that you are older as well. When you are in bed at night, laying on your side, this too will also help with causing those neck wrinkles that are so noticeable and bothersome to you. Use moisturizer on your neck area as well as the rest of your body, this will help in preventing some of those wrinkles that have been appearing lately and any more from occurring in the future. Do some research over the internet and browse around at some of the different neck creams that can help in treating wrinkles. Start by just trying out a few different ones before you decide on which one benefits your skin the most.

Property Damage: What You Should Know

There are two types of property damage that you need to be insured against: damage that is done to your own property by a third party or some uncontrollable force and damage that you may do to someone else’s property. In either circumstance, adequate insurance coverage can save you from financial catastrophe.

Auto Insurance and Property Damage

The parts of an automobile insurance policy that deal with damage to your own vehicle are collision and comprehensive coverage. Collision coverage protects the policyholder in case his or her vehicle collides with another vehicle or object. This is the case even if the policyholder caused the accident. Comprehensive coverage protects the policyholder in case the vehicle is destroyed or damaged by circumstances apart from a collision. These circumstances include: theft, fire, vandalism, damage from a fallen tree and other acts of nature. The premiums for this type of insurance are hefty and the policy will most likely require some sort of deductible. Make sure to talk to several insurance brokers and ask about all available policies before making a final decision.

While collision and comprehensive coverage protect the policyholder’s vehicle, the personal property liability portion of an insurance policy covers the vehicle and personal property of a third party. There are usually state minimums for this sort of coverage, but they are rarely enough to financially protect the policyholder in the case of serious property damage.

Homeowner’s Insurance and Property Damage

If you start thinking about protecting yourself against property damage to your home and its contents only after the damage has occurred, then you might just be too late. An adequate response to property damage requires pre-planning and vigilance on the part of the homeowner. If policies kept aren’t up-to-date and preparations made before damage occurs then the financial fallout could be severe.

When you first purchase your home you should sit down with your broker and go over all aspects of your homeowner’s insurance policy. Insurance can be a pretty mundane subject, but it’s important that you understand your policy. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s your home and property that is being protected. A typical homeowner’s policy will cover the house and any building attached to it, detached buildings, plumbing, all electrical wiring, air conditioning, built-in appliances, personal property within the home and living expenses should you have to evacuate your home while it’s being repaired. The basic coverage doesn’t protect everything in your home, so you may need to add to your existing insurance if you want to increase coverage or include additional items.

It seems like everything associated with owning a home is expensive and, as a result, it can be incredibly easy for a homeowner to rationalize doing without specific types of homeowner’s insurance. The reality is that you never know what’s going to happen and should acquire all the insurance coverage you can afford. For example, most people are not aware of how common floods actually are, even out of designated flood zones. So, it would be very simple for a homeowner living outside a flood zone to convince he or herself that flood insurance is unnecessary. This is a mistake. If there is even the slightest chance that your home could be affected by floodwaters, you need flood insurance. Your regular homeowner’s policy won’t cover flood damage and federal assistance isn’t made available unless the area is declared a federal disaster.

Once you have your policies in place, make sure to keep the coverage limits up to date. Find out what local home values and re-building costs are in your area and make sure that the coverage in your policy is commensurate with those values. You should also reevaluate your personal property – the contents of the home – on a regular basis and increase coverage limits if necessary. Keep an updated photo inventory of your personal property (along with any relevant appraisal records) at a location other than your home. You might want to keep a copy of your homeowner’s policies and your agent’s contact information at this location as well.

Renters can also experience devastating property damage and some may not realize that the homeowner’s policy will not cover the renter’s personal property. This is why carrying an adequate amount of renter’s insurance is so very important.

Herniated Disk and Back Pain

The disk at the back spinal column divides the skeletal structures. Disk does not compose blood vessels or nerves like other elements of the skeletal structure. Instead, disks are made up of fat, water, and tissues that connect to the skeletal structure. During all hours of the day, the disks leak water, which is caused from forces of gravity. For instance, when we sit it is a gravity force in action, which one might think that it takes little effort to sit, but contrary to the notion, it is adding a lot of weight to the spine and disk.

The disk restores water that has leaked out during the day, yet the water is restored at slower paces. Fat and water is balanced in the disk, yet when it is not it causes a person to shrink height. Fat and water inside disks are thick, yet when a person starts aging, the substances begin to thin. When fat and water begins to thin, it can lead to osteoarthritis. Thinning water and fat of the disk is also the leading cause of back pain, especially at the lower region.

Disks exterior are covered by ?Annulus Fibrosis.? Sometimes the connective tissues lead to abnormal thickening, which scars the tissue. Usually injury follows, then infection, and moves to restrained oxygen intake. Surgery is often the result. The inner area of the disk is shielded by ?Nucleus Pulposis.? The pulp makes up the hub of the disk, which is polished and soft. The disks make up the primary supporting force that regulates the spinal column, bones, muscles, etc.

When the disk is not protecting the spinal structures it is often dehydrated, pressured, or deformed. The disk has strength that combines with flexibility to withstand high loads of pressure, yet when that flexibility and strength is interrupted, it can result to herniated disk slips, or other injuries.

Slipped disks in medical terms are known as HNP. (Herniated Nucleus Pulposa) As outlined the intervertebral disks are ruptured, which interrupts the nucleus pulposa. In medical terms, slipped disks can include L4, L5, which is Lumbrosacral and C5-7, which is Cervical. L4 is a single area of the spinal column and disks, which defines the numerical disk ruptured.

Slipped disks are caused from accidents, trauma, strain of the back and neck, lifting heavy objects, disk degeneration, weak ligaments, and congenital deformity of the bones. Disk degeneration is outlined in this article.

Symptoms:
Lumbrosacral will show apparent symptoms, such as acute lower back pain, which radiates to the buttocks and down to the leg. The person will feel weak, numb, or tingling that stretches to the leg and foot. Ambulation also causes pain.

If cervical disk problems are present, the patient will feel stiffness around the neck. As well, the symptoms will make the patient feel weak, numb, and he/she will feel tingling around the hands. Neck pain often generates pain, extending it to the arms and onto the hands, which cause weakness to the upper region of the body. The weakness often targets the triceps and biceps, which become atrophy. The lumbar is affected also, which the patient will find it difficult to straighten the back.

What happens when a disk is slipped and/or broken the annulus fibrosis reacts by pushing its substance into the hollow spacing between the spinal column. The spinal column is made up of nerves, which travel to various parts of the body, including the brain. These nerves are affected when the disk is slipped. Learn more about the Central Nerve System (CNS) to relate to slipped disks. First, understand how the joints and connective tissues can cause back pain.

POS: What It Means

POS is a basic managed health care foundation in which one can attain lower medical costs in exchange for much more limited choices. Once you’re in a POS health care program you will be asked to choose a primary care physician to monitor your health care. This physician will become your point of service within the health care network. In the event that your primary care physician deems it necessary for you to see another doctor or specialist, he/she may make referrals for you outside the network but only the insurance company will cover a percentage of the cost. The paperwork for medical visits, which take place inside your network, is completed for you, but if you go outside the network you are responsible for filling out the paperwork and keeping very accurate records.

POS does give you some advantages that some people do like. Annual out-of-pocket costs are usually very limited. In today’s world many people have limited resources set aside for medical costs so low out-of-pocket expenses will be a plus for many consumers. There is no deductible for network care. This is another advantage people like a lot. With no deductible you don’t have to spend a certain amount out-of-pocket before things start to get paid for. There is a deductible, however, if you go outside the network for care. You aren’t limited to HMO providers only. This gives you the freedom of more choices for your health care needs, which is something we all strive for. Co-payments for non-network care are very high. This discourages going outside the network and promotes using more primary care providers in your network.

Your actual costs will only consist of a monthly premium and co-payment for health care services under the plan within the POS network. If you’re still wondering which program is best for you a PPO, a HMO, or a POS, consider some of these questions. Are there a lot of doctors to choose from? No matter which plan you go decide on, a good selection of doctors is something you should consider before choosing a plan.

The prices of the health insurance premiums could very well be the most important question you may have. It won’t do you any good to have health insurance if you can’t afford to pay the monthly premiums. Therefore this is a subject that needs great attention so that the right decision can be made. Coverage is another thing that should be looked into. Different plans have different coverage. Emergency room converge can also vary by whatever plan you choose. Whatever plan you choose make sure it has the coverage you’re looking for.

The hospitals that are available to you is something many people will rank high on their list of considerations. Having a place where you feel comfortable and trust the value of their service means a lot to most people. Hospitals can have a good reputation or a bad one. That’s why choosing a hospital will play into which health care plan you choose. No one likes hospitals, but if you are comfortable at the hospital that is covered, it will certainly make for a more pleasant experience. So it is important to know which hospitals are covered by your health care plan.

Are their limits on the medical treatments and services a certain plan offers? There’s really no sense in paying for a plan that won’t let you use the services you really need. Isn’t that the main reason we buy medical insurance so that we can use the services when we need them? Be sure a think about the services that you are most likely to use, and be sure to ask if those services are covered.

Consider non-network care. This is a very important part of any plan. Sometimes your physician may not be available. Be sure to find out how much more you would be responsible for paying to go outside your network and see a doctor. It can be quite costly with some plans.

POS plans have many advantages and many disadvantages. Looking over everything is something you must do before any decision is made. Looking through each plan will take some time and should always be done before you make that decision. You never want to rush into your decision. POS plans are a little different than the others but lower costs and out-of pocket expenses are some good reasons for choosing a POS plan. Whatever managed care you decide on, and the choices are many, it is important to remember that with each plan there are good parts and bad. You, as the consumer, must do your homework so you won’t be disappointed.
