Find Out About The Risks Involved With Ultrasonic Liposuction

There is a newer method to liposuction, it is called the ultrasonic liposuction procedure. With this procedure they are using ultrasound waves to help terminate the fatty tissues that you are hoping to get rid of. Ultrasound is used for many different treatments and now is being used to help people get rid of some of the fatty tissues that are causing ugly pockets on specific body parts, such as the stomach, butt, arms, legs or even around the neck and face. You should know before having the ultrasonic liposuction procedure done on you that there are some risks surrounding the surgery, as with any type of surgery.

With ultrasonic liposuction your fat is literally being dissolved so that when they do suction out the fat from your body, it will be much easier to do so. There are a couple of ways that they can do this, they are, internally or externally. The internal method is being performed much more than the external method because the external method has shown that its ability to remove the fat from the body in this manner is not occurring the way that they thought it first would. It is pretty much not even used anymore. It is a shame too because this method could have been so awesome, not even having to cut on you at all. They would simply put a metal object directly over the area that you would want treated and the ultrasound is supposed to be able to break the fat down so that it could be excreted. Like I said though, this procedure is not happening too often now day because it has proven to fail in most instances.

When the doctors choose to do the internal method on a patient they put an incision on the area needing to be treated, then place their instrument inside where some form of solution is put in. Once this happens, the ultrasonic waves melt down the unwanted fat and that then mixes with the solution that they put inside of you, it turns into an oily substance that is easily suctioned out of your body. Now, what you need to know, is the risks involved with this type of liposuction so that you are aware of this before you choose to ever have it completed on yourself or if you know someone else who is considering having this procedure done.

The ultrasonic liposuction produces so much heat throughout your body that you will experience a numbness that could occur for an extended amount of time. Determining how much heat will be produced with ultrasound is difficult, sometimes the excessive heat causes nerve damage in patients. Another risks is blood clots. This can occur because the temperature of your blood vessels rise due to the heat from the ultrasound. One more risk that I want to mention is the risk of burns. This can occur because of too much heat, causing the instruments they are using to get scorchingly hot. Sometimes accidents occur, little slip ups with the tools they are using, if one of these hot instruments touched your skin you could suffer from severe burns or even blisters.

So, before you have ultrasonic liposuction done, make sure you give it a great deal of thought, and discuss all other options with your doctor. It is better to be cautious about procedures such as this, for your safety.
