iron and wine – sodom, south georgia

papa died smiling, wide as the ring of a bell gone all star white, small as a wish in a well and sodom, south georgia woke like a tree full of bees buried in christmas bows and a blanket of weeds papa died sunday and i understood all dead white boys say god is good white tongues hang out, god is good papa died while my girl lady edith was born both heads fell like eyes on a crack in the door and sodom, south georgia slept on an acre of bones slept through christmas, slept like a bucket of snow papa died sunday and i understood all dead white boys say god is good white tongues hang out, god is good

the lyrics are actually pretty literal. not too difficult…

  4. Duppetiduu says:

The chorus is different. It goes from C to A, then to C, then reverses part of the song going from C to F, then D.

It’s pretty straightforward, but the strumming has nuances to it.

I wish I could play this on my acoustic

  17. nosis106 says:

look it up because it’s really not that hard.

    seriously.

it’s an alt cmaj up 2 frets, than a standard cmaj, than an alt g

i mean it’s all open chords. it’s really easy. singing it is the hard part.

  18. clutchcrippler says:

@Haleysmokesweed learn it, sounds awesome and its so much fun to just jam out to.

  19. clutchcrippler says:

not hard at all really… light strumming pattern and some pull off/hammer on’s. Singing along with it might be the most challenging thing about this song at best… although it sounds AWESOME when it all comes together. I play it all the time. I play about 8 or 9 of his songs.

@clutchcrippler The chords, I think, are pretty easy if you capo at 7. I fingerpick it since I am no good at strumming, even light strumming.

Beautiful. All I have to say.
