Know Your Role As The Bartender Before You Choose To Make Bartending Your Career
Often times when someone thinks about becoming a bartender, they dream of the bartenders in all the famous movies, thinking they might actually be that one day. What people need to remember is that bartending is not really all that glamorous and it is not really the way it is portrayed in those movies we have all watched. The fact about bartending is, you will start out very small, making hardly no money at all. The only way that you can really begin making a substantial amount of money is only after you have plenty of experience and have worked in all the rinky dink bars and clubs first to gain the knowledge that you will need to make money bartending. You are only lucky if this even happens for you. Typically, someone who chooses to take on bartending only makes minimum wage and occasionally some little tips from nice customers.
Many people think that bartending will just be the coolest, best job around, those people have probably never really experienced bartending if they do feel this way. Bartending will take up a great deal of your time, if you are lucky enough to get any amount of hours and you will be quite disappointed at the end of the shift, once you start counting your tips. Most of the time, people do not pay much attention to the bartender, unless you are one of the lucky ones, working a crowded bar, in a nice location. There are ways to find great bartending jobs such as this but in order to do so, you have to get your feet in the door first and practice all of the techniques that you learned in bartending school or from the internet for free. Once you put all of your knowledge to work in the bar you are currently working at, you will start becoming noticed a little more, like I said, if you are lucky. If you manage to talk with the right people and make all of the right impressions, then you might be able to land yourself a great bartending job, somewhere really nice and with a great reputation, where you will definitely make more money than you ever did before.
It is going to take time though and if you find that even after becoming experienced, you are still not making enough money to pay any of your bills, then you might want to consider choosing another career, a higher paying career, with more to offer to you. There are lucky ones, that find awesome, great paying bartending careers but unfortunately most of the time, this is not how it turns out for people hoping to become that high paying bartender, working in the most popular crowded bars and clubs around. They usually just end up in either a restaurant or a little night club where people do not really appreciate the bartender as much as they would somewhere bigger and better.
