Some of the reasons why people undergo the detoxification process is to have a healthier body, improved immune system and to fight off diseases and illnesses. The advocates of detoxification contend that with detoxification, the body?s performance will be improved and we will get sick less. These benefits could actually be attained from detoxification, which is not a question. However, what some people do not understand is that even with our detoxification, the body will be able to achieve or get the benefits mentioned, This is because the body has what you would call a natural detoxification process within.

To start with, the body does not need detoxification to protect itself from diseases. Our body has an internal army that wards off diseases and infections that is our immune system. If the organs in our body are functioning well, the immune system works well in keeping pathogens from attacking our body. In fairness to those who support detoxification, they claim that with the detoxification process, the immune system is improved.

Now, detoxification supporters would rally that the process is able to cleanse our bodies from impurities within. The thing is, some organs of our body actually do that already. Let us take the kidney for example. The kidney is able to filter our blood, removing the bad elements in it and throwing them away. In that way, it performs as a filtering machine that cleanses our blood for a healthier body. The colon acts as such also. It is an excretory organ that removes wastes from our body.

So knowing that the body already has a filtering or cleansing system within and that it is already able to protect itself against diseases, why is there a need for s to undergo detoxification? In one type of detoxification, the person needs to drink a gallon of water for one whole day. The excretory system of our body will have to work hard to be able to process that in the body. Also, where will you get the necessary energy to last you through the day? So detoxification may actually be unnecessary and could even be harmful.

So in summary, maybe we are better off by having a very good diet and practice a healthy lifestyle. Eat all the right foods, and you will naturally have a good filtering system. Do regular exercises and your internal organs will all function well. If you treat your body well, you do not have to undergo any forced detoxification process at all.
